Privacy Policy

The short version

• Your videos are never public, never downloadable, and never watched by us except where strictly needed to provide support you've asked for.
• We never sell your data, never show ads, and never use your videos or your guests' details for marketing.
• We collect the minimum needed to run a private, invite-only video service — and you can ask us to delete all of it at any time.

Who we are

OurVid ("we", "us") operates ourvid.co, a private video sharing service. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For anything in this policy, contact support@ourvid.co.

What we collect and why

If you host an event

• Account details — your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). Used to run your account and send you service emails such as access requests.
• Event details — the event name, optional date, and the videos you upload. Used solely to provide your private event page.
• Payment records — if you upgrade, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and the last part of the card number for receipts; we never see or store your full card details.

If you're invited as a guest

• Your name and email address — provided by you when you request access, used so the host can recognise and approve you and so we can send your sign-in details.
• Device information — a device identifier, IP address and browser details for each device you watch on. This exists purely to enforce the per-guest device limit that keeps events private; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
• Viewing activity — which videos you watched and when, shown to the event host as simple view counts.

Everyone

• Usage analytics — we use privacy-focused product analytics (hosted in the EU) and hosting performance metrics to understand how the product is used and fix problems. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
• Cookies — essential cookies keep you signed in; an analytics cookie helps us count usage. We don't use advertising cookies.

Where your videos live

Videos are uploaded directly to a specialist enterprise video platform and stored and delivered encrypted. Playback works only through signed links that expire within 24 hours and are issued solely to guests the host has approved. Videos have no public URL, are excluded from search engines, and downloads are disabled at the streaming layer.

Who we share data with

Only the service providers needed to run OurVid, each acting under contract on our instructions: a specialist video storage and streaming provider, Stripe (payments), and providers of hosting, database, transactional email and EU-hosted analytics services. Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA; where they do, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK and EU standard contractual clauses. We never sell personal data, and we disclose it beyond these providers only if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Your account, events, videos and guest lists are kept while your account is active so your event page keeps working. If you delete your account — or email us asking us to — we delete your videos, event data and guest records, keeping only what we're legally required to retain (such as payment records for tax purposes). Analytics data is retained in aggregate form.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and take your data elsewhere. Email support@ourvid.co from the address on your account and we'll respond within a month. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.

Children

OurVid accounts are for adults (18+). Videos hosted on OurVid often feature children — that's exactly why the service is private — but the account holder is responsible for having the right to share them, and guests are approved individually by the host.

Changes

If we change this policy in any meaningful way we'll update this page and, for significant changes, email account holders. Questions? See our Support page or email support@ourvid.co.
